WALK 126: Ditchingham Emmaus Circular

I went to the Norfolk and Waveney Emmaus branch in Ditchingham. I parked up, and did a circular walk around the building, following public footpaths and the road. It’s quite easy to make it circular yourself, with the building always in view.

I don’t want to call the Ditchingham branch a charity shop because it’s so much more than that. Yes it does sell and take donations (a massive amount to look through and buy), but it is also a home for many. The majority of the staff you find, live in the buildings you explore. Helping with rummaging through donations, managing the grounds, and baking the most delicious cakes in the Orchard Cafe.

Emmaus was founded in France in 1949 by Abbe Pierre. A charity that supports the homeless, and helps them navigate and face challenges, providing a positive space in a beautiful environment.

“We provide a bed and a reason to get out of it in the morning”

“We provide a home for as long as they need it, with no time limit”

Emmaus is a charity that I hold close to my heart, and long time followers will know of my many fundraising activities for the charity.
